TROOP COMMITTEE CHAIR *

  • Calls and runs monthly troop committee meetings
  • Solicits and sets agenda for committee meeting
  • Arranges meeting place
  • Ensures adult leaders are trained; maintains training database
  • Schedules and staffs Eagle Boards of Review
  • Recruits adult volunteers and submits leader applications to the Council office
  • Establishes activity committees
  • Works with Scoutmaster on program and activities
  • Attends training and Roundtable meetings
  • Maintains ties with Cub Scout Pack
  • Renews charter with Rotary Club
  • Enrolls new Webelos into Troop
  • Conducts new parents meeting
  • Keeps troop roster
  • Maintains troop guidelines document
  • Wears proper uniform at troop functions

 

TROOP COMMITTEE MEMBER

  • Attends monthly troop committee meetings
  • As a committee member, assists in the planning of troop activities and setting of troop policies
  • Leads troop events as requested by troop committee chair
  • Holds troop committee leadership positions as requested by troop committee chair
  • Reports on assigned troop responsibilities at troop committee meetings
  • Participates in Boards of Review
  • Attends training and Roundtable meetings

 

SCOUTMASTER *

  • Attends troop committee meetings
  • Trains and guides boy leaders
  • Establishes troop Mission, Objectives and Vision
  • Attends weekly meetings
  • Ensures all aspects of troop plan are being carried out
  • Works closely with all adult leaders, and helps coordinate activities
  • Wears proper uniform at troop functions
  • Conducts Scoutmaster conferences
  • Attends training and Roundtable meetings
  • Assists Troop Committee Chair to recruit adult volunteers

 

ASSISTANT SCOUTMASTERS *

  • Attend weekly meetings
  • Fill in for Scoutmaster as needed
  • Assist with program and activities
  • Assist with advancement and boy leaders
  • Work with and guide boy leaders
  • Work with assigned patrol as advisor
  • Wear proper uniform at troop functions
  • Attend training and Roundtables meetings

 

SECRETARY

  • Attends troop committee meetings
  • Records committee meeting minutes and distributes to Committee Members, webmaster, and others as needed.
  • Maintains troop calendar
  • Assists troop Scribe and newsletter editor with troop newsletter

 

FUN NIGHT COORDINATOR

  • Works with boys to develop a list of fun events
  • Arranges any needed reservations
  • Arranges transportation and adult supervision
  • Collect fees
  • Get events into the troop schedule
  • Communicates information on events to Scouts and parents

 

TROOP TREASURER *

  • Attends troop committee meetings
  • Keeps troop checking account
  • Reports financial status monthly
  • Receives troop income
  • Records and maintains individual items due, issue bills
  • Audits and approves all fundraising orders before they are placed with vendor
  • Pays troop expenses authorized by Scoutmaster and Committee
  • Coordinates annual troop budget and makes recommendations for fees
  • Administers Scout Bucks accounts and reports monthly balances
  • Assists troop committee chair to recruit adult volunteers
  • Attends training and Roundtables meetings

 


FUND RAISING COORDINATORS

  • Coordinate Christmas wreath fund raiser
  • Coordinate Spring Flower Sale
  • Coordinate BSA Product Sales
  • Coordinate and run Manitou 15K Race
  • Coordinate Friends of Scouting Campaign
  • Identify and organize other fundraising events
  • Assure adult leadership in place
  • Coordinate with cooperating organizations
  • Arrange for materials and submit fundraising orders to Treasurer before submitting to vendor
  • Make sure of Scout attendance and schedule shifts
  • Coordinate any High Adventure fund raising needs
  • Maintain records of expenses and submit bills to the Treasurer for payment
  • Submit payments to Scout Bucks and troop accounts to the Treasurer

 

ADVANCEMENT COMMITTEE CHAIR *

  • Attends troop committee meetings
  • Meets with troop committee to discuss advancement opportunities and needs
  • Works with Scouts to assure proper advancement
  • Works with Board of Review Coordinator
  • Works with Merit Badge Coordinator
  • Provides direction to schedule merit badge sessions
  • Determines method and procedures for tracking records.
  • Keeps accurate advancement records by Scout
  • Keeps accurate merit badge records by Scout
  • Works with troop Scribe to keep troop attendance records by Scout.
  • Works with Community Service Chair to keep service hour records by Scout.
  • Buys advancement materials and assists with Court of Honor
  • Works with troop Librarian and Merit Badge Coordinator to keep merit badge books
  • Works with Scoutmaster on Scout conferences
  • Works with Education Committee
  • Communicates District and Council opportunities for advancement and merit badges
  • Works with Tomahawk coordinator for Tomahawk merit badges
  • Assists Troop Committee Chair to recruit adult volunteers
  • Attends training and Roundtables meetings

 

COURT OF HONOR COORDINATOR

  • Arranges facility/site for Court of Honor
  • Works with Scouts assigned to develop program
  • Arranges refreshments
  • Works with Advancement Chair to develop certificates
  • Procures any needed supplies

   


MERIT BADGE COUNSELOR COORDINATOR

  • Works with Advancement Chair
  • Coordinates counselors so that a regular schedule of merit badges can be offered to the Scouts
  • Recruits counselors from within troop
  • Works with Advancement Committee Counselors
  • Must Register with the Indianhead Council as a Merit Badge Counselor
  • Works with groups of boys to attain merit badges
  • Identifies specific areas of interest/expertise
  • Attends training

 

EAGLE COORDINATOR

  • Assist Scouts on selecting Eagle Projects
  • Offers advice on Eagle Court of Honor ceremony

 

BOARD OF REVIEW COORDINATOR

  • Schedules Boards of Review
  • Recruits Adults to serve on Boards of Review
  • Maintains record of adults participating in Boards of Review
  • Trains new members to serve on Boards of Review
  • Transmits results of Boards of Review to the Advancement Coordinator and Record Keeper
  • Writes letter to Scout for deferred rank advancements
  • Forwards issues and recommendations received in Boards from Scouts to the appropriate adult leader

 

CAMPING COMMITTEE CHAIR *

  • Attends troop committee meetings
  • Establishes campout schedule with the PLC and reserves campsites
  • Arranges transportation and adult supervision
  • Establishes campout objectives, schedule, and necessary help
  • Make sure that patrols plan menus and buy food
  • Establishes camp and food fees prior to the campout
  • Assures proper safety and use of equipment
  • Submits tour permits to the Council office
  • Develops sign up sheets and coordinates payments with Scout Bucks administrator
  • Assists troop Committee Chair to recruit adult volunteers
  • Attends training and Roundtable meetings

 


HIGH ADVENTURE COORDINATOR

  • Works with Camping Chair to schedule High Adventure activities, canoe trips, backpacking trips, special high adventure events
  • Secures reservation and submits National and Council Tour Permits
  • Arranges transportation and adult supervision
  • Develops sign up sheets and coordinates payments with Scout Bucks administrator
  • Attends training and Roundtable meetings

 

QUARTERMASTER

  • Ensures equipment is operable and clean
  • Ensures supply of consumable items
  • Buys needed new equipment, equipment improvements as approved by the Committee
  • Makes sure equipment is dry and complete
  • Organizes the cleaning, drying, and organizing trailer and equipment after campouts
  • Inventories items

 

COMMUNITY SERVICE CHAIR

  • Attends troop committee meetings
  • Finds community service opportunities
  • Gets projects on calendar
  • Coordinates with receiving organization
  • Makes sure of Scout attendance and schedules shifts
  • Assures adult leadership is in place to ensure completion of projects
  • Articles and photos to Local Newspaper
  • Forwards roster of scouts participating to Record Keeper
  • Coordinates activities with Charter Liaison
  • Schedules Scouts/adults for Cub Blue and Gold Banquets
  • Assists Troop Committee Chair to recruit adult volunteers

 

ROTARY CLUB LIAISON

  • Works with Rotary Club as needed to promote troop activities and needs

 

SCOUTING FOR FOOD COORDINATOR

  • Works with Community Service Chair
  • Recruits Scouts and adults to attend
  • Provides maps and assigns areas to cover
  • Coordinates sorting and delivery of food to food shelf
  • Provides roster of participants to the Record Keeper

 


CHURCH LIAISON

  • Arranges meeting room times and dates with the Church
  • Works with Committee to resolve any facility issues with the Church

 

T-SHIRT BUYER

  • Coordinates troop T-shirt purchases
  • Coordinates troop sweatshirt purchases
  • Coordinates troop special event shirt purchases
  • Arranges for artwork for shirts
  • Collects or facilitates collection of fees for shirts
  • Check bills and submit to Treasurer for payment

 

NEWSLETTER EDITOR

  • Edits and publishes the Troop newsletter at least bimonthly
  • Solicits articles for the newsletter from the troop Historian, SPL and adult leaders

 

WEBMASTER

  • Arranges for website for Troop publications
  • Maintains website
  • Maintains troop calendar on the website and provides paper copies for scouts or families without web access
