Plan the Annual Adult Recognition Dinner

The Annual Adult Recognition Dinner is a catered spaghetti dinner at which the boys recognize their adult volunteers for all of their efforts during the preceding year.  The dinner is planned by the Committee Chairman, but it is served to the adult leaders by the boys.

The dinner is typically held the second Thursday in December.  There is no Committee meeting in November, and the dinner is also the December Committee meeting.  The dinner should be discussed at the October Committee meeting.

After the October Committee meeting, the Chairman should compile a list of all adult volunteers who held a leadership position, served on the Committee, attended a campout, volunteered in any capacity, etc.

Four weeks before the event, the Chairman should send email invitations out to everyone on the invitation list.  The Chairman should maintain an RSVP list to determine the amount of food to order.  The boys who do the serving also eat with us.

Four weeks before the event, the Chairman should recruit 6-10 older boys to serve and cleanup after the dinner.  Younger boys will require too much supervision and will get restless.  The Senior Patrol Leader should recruit the required boys.

Four weeks before the dinner, the Chairman should schedule the spaghetti dinner with Donatelli's in White Bear Lake.  They are right at the southwest corner of the intersection of Century Avenue (Hwy 120) and County Road E, in the Century Hills Plaza (2692 East County Road E).  Their phone number is 651-777-9199, and they are open 11am - 10pm.  Our contact is Trish Appleby, and her cell phone is 651-238-6943.  Visit www.donatellis.com and look at Catering -- Just the Food for Groups. There are detailed descriptions, serving sizes and pricing information listed there.

The week of  the dinner, the Chairman should call in the final order to Donatelli's.  Our order is usually for about 40-50 people and usually consists of:

2 Large Pans of Spaghetti with Meatballs $69.99/pan

5 Large Garlic Bread $6.99 per loaf

Caesar salad with dressing on the side

Plates and disposable silverware are included
    Approximate cost $250

The week of the dinner, the Chairmen needs to confirm that enough boys are planning to attend to serve the dinner.

The day of the event, someone needs to pick up drinks (milk, coffee), and someone needs to pick up the dinner if it is not being delivered (their delivery fee is minimal).
