Jamboree Information

The National Jamboree - Is held every 4 years at Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia taking advantage of all that its High Adventure program offers while getting a chance to meet scouts from all across the country.  The last National Jamboree was in 2017, the next one will be in 2021.

When: July 22 – August 2nd 2019, 12 days + travel time; note Tomahawk (7/13-20/2019) is week prior. 




It is a once in a lifetime opportunity as the World Jamboree only occurs every 4 years.   The last time is was in the US was in1967. The 2023 Jamboree will be in South Korea.  The Jamboree takes advantage of all the areas of Summit Bechtel Reserve (Climbing, rappelling, canopy tours, Rope challenge courses, Shooting sports, archery, BMX biking, Skateboarding, white water rafting, etc… Scouts camp in tents with cots, plan and make their own meals, participate in daily adventures on the reserve, then attend evening events. 


Scouts go down in region organized in units of 40 people (36 scouts, 4 adult leaders); Scouts apply individually with a deposit via online application.  The regional unit selects and groups the scouts and trys to group scouts from same troops.   Adult Leaders are selected as the unit fills; automatic acceptance is less certain for adults compared to scout application due to limited adult numbers allowed.  This is an individual scout event, but the more that go the merrier. 

The regional unit travels as a group to West Virginia from Twin Cities as this area is a “Hub”.
