June 22-24 Camp-out

“Camping, hiking and fishing.....”

Who: ALL Registered Scouts and Scouters

What: Backpacking (for those attending Philmont) and enjoying the outdoors at Willow River State Park

When: June 22 - 24, 2012

Where: Willow River State Park - Hudson, Wisconsin

Why: To have fun and train for Philmont

Cost: $35/scout and $25/adult

Departure: Otter Lake Elem. School on Friday, June 22nd at 6:00pm. Eat supper before arriving.

Returning: Sunday around 1 pm. Scouts will be dropped off at their homes.

Sign-up: Sign-up sheet will be at the troop meetings.  All cancellations after Tuesday, June 19th will be charged $35.

This camp trip will consist of outdoor activities.

If you are attending Philmont this summer, it is important that you attend this camp-out.

Scouts should bring:

Complete change of clothes and extra socks

2 underwear

2 pair shorts

1 pair long pants

2 shirts

One complete set of non-cotton clothes for in the canoe:

Polyester shirt
Rainsuit or light waterproof jacket and pants
Polyester or wool socks
Old tennis shoes (no sandals, moccasins or water shoes)

Swimsuit

Beach Towel

Sweatshirt or lightweight jacket

Hat/Gloves

Closed toe shoes – dry for in camp

Sleeping clothes


Sleeping bag (check weather for appropriate weight)

Pillow

Sleeping pad

Scout book

Flashlight

Pocketknife

Mess kit, cup, knife, fork and spoon (plastic recommended)

Water bottle – squeeze-type

Life jacket (optional - adult sizes small-large provided)

Backpack or duffel bag

Plastic bag for wet clothes


Smellables (personal hygiene):

Toothbrush/toothpaste

Soap and washcloth

Sunscreen and bug spray

Personal medication


Fishing Pole - optional


Wear Class A uniform with a Class B underneath for traveling

Check the weather forecast to see how cold it might get and pack accordingly.
