An adventure of a lifetime.

What comes to your mind when you think of scouts? Some think arson. Others think pocketknives.  Others still think of nerds in brown shirts. Not all of this is true (we do like our campfires). Scouts is not cheesy or simple by any means. Scouts, especially the campouts, is always an adventure.

One of my adventures was Sea Base. Sea Base is a high adventure camp in the Florida Keys.  Seabase offers dozens of different experiences in Florida and the Caribbean. Experiences range from scuba diving to sailing and eco adventures. We chose to sail the Sea of Abaco in the Bahamas. It was incredible. The sailboat was at least forty feet long! The group (8) of us sailed under a captain and his first mate, who he called his admiral (it was his wife). They showed us all the fun locations, such as a lighthouse and all the good beach spots. We did a ton of swimming, shopping, we even saw a shark. Our captain told us lots of stories. It was a BLAST. We even learned how to blow a conch shell. After a week of fun, we did have to sadly say our goodbyes to the captain and the admiral.

Before Seabase, I had never sailed. I didn’t know that there was even such a thing as a conch (let alone that the meat is very tasty).  I’m still waiting for my island name. It was such an amazing trip - the sunsets couldn’t be beat!
